A New Direction in Infrastructure

Our Story

Often it helps to define an organization by stating what is not. Industry names come and go and are recycled much like steel, the most recyclable building material. The Wisconsin Historical Society tells that in the late 1800's Eastern Steel Works replaced the Pottsville Rolling Mill. It was in operation until 1931 when it was replaced by Bethlehem Steel. Eastern Steel Works, Inc. is built on the same tradition of valued relationships and industry commitment.

ESW’s roots can be traced back to a pedestrian bridge built in 1990 over Cascadilla Creek in Ithaca, NY. One of our senior leadership team members can be seen here assessing the newly landed girders.

Our manufacturing operations are based in Seagrove, NC. While Seagrove is “The Handmade Pottery Capital of the United States,” we are excited to be participating in the revitalization of a mixed use campus known as the “Historic Luck’s Cannery”.

Various challenges, unique pathways and rewarding career experiences recently brought our team together in Asheboro, NC. The elephant embedded in the Pier Cap as seen on our website is homage to our Asheboro roots, home of the North Carolina Zoological Park.
